We were very sad to learn of the death of our old friend Ron Padley who passed away peacefully during his sleep on Monday 20th April. He was a wonderful friend to all the choir, being an active member for many years until the task of caring for the love of his life, Mavis, became too much and his health suffered. They shared some time in the care home together before the sad death of Mavis on 25th July 2019. The choir has been privileged to visit Ron in the home when he was able to join us in singing along enthusiastically.
Last Thursday the choir attended a ‘virtual ‘ practice through the medium of ‘ZOOM’ technology and were moved when we sang Ron’s song, ‘That’s All I Want From You’. MD Terry asked us to think of Ron and, even not being aware of the upcoming tragic event, it was a very poignant moment.
It is doubly sad that in the current ‘lock down’ situation we will be unable to join Martin, David and families in celebration of Ron’s life. Perhaps when this is all over, we will be able to get together and remember Ron in song.
