October Concert Guest Introduction
We are very pleased to be welcoming Sara Louisa Parry as one of our guests for the October ‘When You Wish’ concert. Sara grew up in Heage, so is a very local girl, and started singing at the age of 5 at Ebenezer Methodist Chapel. She studied with Pamela Cook and joined the award winning Cantamus Girls Choir. She went on to study singing with Glenville Hargreaves at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Whilst she studied classically and sings as a Mezzo Soprano, her first love, having been a member of Belper Operatic Society, is Musical Theatre. After graduating, her first professional job was in the cast of Les Misérables at the Palace Theatre Manchester. She toured with the show to Dublin and Edinburgh and took part in the !995 10th Anniversary Concert at the Royal Albert Hall. .
Other credits include Phantom of the Opera (Ensemble) London, Evita (Ensemble) Oslo, Grease (Miss Lynch) UK tour, Oliver! (Widow Corney) Trinity Theatre, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Fairy Godmother ) Trinity Theatre.
Sara is currently based in London where she teaches singing at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Performers College. She regularly tours the UK with the hit show ‘Oh! Carol’.
We are delighted that we have been able to persuade Sara to take time from her busy schedule and you can expect a varied and contrasting programme, which you are bound to enjoy, featuring a Judy Garland medley: (The Trolley Song/ Over the Rainbow/Man That Got Away) Memory from Cats, I Dreamed a Dream from Les Misérables, a Barbra Streisand medley (On a Clear Day, The Way We Were, Children Will Listen (Into the Woods). Finally joining the choir for You Raise Me Up.
