Choir Marshal
Last Friday, 11th May, the choir performed at the Alfreton Community Hall. This was in support of St. Martin’s Church, Alfreton, an annual event arranged by our Choir Marshal Stan Green. Unfortunately, Stan was unable to attend this event; whilst on holiday in Norfolk, he fell and fractured his hip and is still detained in Yarmouth hospital. He is working to get fit enough to make the journey back to The Derby Royal hospital and we all send our hopes and prayers to encourage his battle.
The concert itself was greatly appreciated by the small, but enthusiastic, audience with a varied programme including a monologue by John, songs by Hannah and Samantha (wonderfully accompanied by Lisa on piano) and solos by Colin and John. Squalk the parrot was unable to attend for his usual appearance but sent deputies (Squalk2 and his apprentice Piecesof8) to ‘stand’ in. John took over the roll of marshal and did a fine job ensuring that we were all in our places; we look forward to Stan’s return (he doesn’t shout at us so much).
