Florence Shipley Care Home, Heanor
On Monday, December 3rd the choir visited The Florence Shipley Residential and Community Care Centre in Heanor to entertain residents and guests. This is a lovely facility, obviously very well looked after and, from its lofty position, providing some very interesting views. The staff and residents made us very welcome and we began by singing ‘With A Voice Of Singing’ and ‘Softly As I Leave You’ just to warm up. The audience were then invited to select two carols and join us in singing them, which they did with some enthusiasm. The afternoon proceeded along those lines and we all enjoyed ourselves.
After a short interval, the choir was back in action on the high seas with a rendition of ‘The Jolly Roger’ which gave some residents the opportunity to wear pirate headgear and sport some flags.
A great deal of laughter was generated with some of John Stamps monologues (you may notice him in the picture imitating a turkey) with the final ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ having John running round madly to identify the twelve ‘cards’ representing the actions, great fun.
The afternoon ended with us Wishing a Merry Christmas to all and a very warm thank you to the staff who perform a wonderful and dedicated service.
